Founding
Campbell is a small town within Mahoning in the State of Ohio. It is located in the northeastern corner, and is approximately five miles from the Pennsylvania border. In 1902, the Youngstown Iron, Sheet and Tube Company established operations on the banks of the Mahoning River in Coitsville Township. The atmosphere was created when the young immigrants poured into the Mahoning Valley to work in the emerging steel industry. As the city matured, it officially became known as the City of Campbell in 1926. Campbell was named in honor of its founding father James Anson Campbell.

Significant changes
The industrial makeup of Campbell is currently in transition. Not only is Campbell preparing for this transition, but communities of Lowellville, Struthers, Poland, and Coitsville are as well. Leaders of each community have formed a community improvement organization called the CASTLO CIC. This organization was formed to encourage other classes of manufacturing and service-oriented industries to locate in the Valley. An important mission is the current project of producing the CASTLO Industrial Park. It was the former Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company. This land contains 120 acres and 11 buildings totaling 600,000 square feet. Campbell is also making significant changes with their roads. They were given $1.4 million to resurface Robinson Road from Wilson Avenue to Struthers-Coitsville Road, Warhurst Road from state Route 289 to Tenney Avenue, and Tenney from Warhurst Road to Struthers-Liberty Road. The work is expected to be finished in October.
